You can discontinue Depo Provera at any moment by declining your next planned injection. It is also recommended that you discontinue Depo Provera treatment after two years of shots. When you stop taking the drug, your body will return to its normal state without any problems occurring.
Depo-Provera will not prevent pregnancy if you do not have an injection every three months. If you intend to keep taking this medication, obtain the missed injection as soon as feasible. Until you receive the missed injection, use a non-hormonal backup birth control (such as a condom or diaphragm with spermicide).
